Our Story

Records on Main opened its doors in April 2025 in the heart of downtown Littleton, Colorado, but our story began long before that first day.

After a successful career as an optician and eventually owning his own optical shop on New York City's Upper East Side, Marshall envisioned opening a record store as his next chapter. A lifelong passion for music and vinyl culture, combined with the discovery of an exceptional storefront on Main Street in downtown Littleton, made the timing feel perfect. It was the ideal opportunity to combine entrepreneurial experience with a deep love of music and create something meaningful for the community.

When Marshall called his daughter Cassie in February 2025—coincidentally right after she'd been laid off from her marketing role in Los Angeles—and said he was going to open a record store, it felt serendipous. With over 12 years of experience in performance marketing and growth analytics, Cassie saw an opportunity to merge her marketing expertise with their shared passion for music while building a community-centered business alongside her father. Records on Main became the perfect intersection of professional skills and personal values.

But the road to opening wasn't smooth. Just two weeks before the scheduled opening, Marshall was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that left him in the ICU for two weeks, followed by a month-long hospital stay. Initially planning to contribute remotely from Los Angeles, Cassie didn't hesitate—she packed up, moved back to Denver, and committed herself fully to making sure they opened on time. Along with her brother Denver, they worked around the clock to bring their dad's vision to life.

The community response was extraordinary. When the accident forced a delay and left them covering rent without revenue, they launched a Kickstarter campaign. Friends, family, neighbors, and even complete strangers rallied behind them, showing that Records on Main was already becoming something meaningful to people before the doors even opened for the first time. That early support didn't just help financially—it showed them they were building something the community truly wanted.

In an age of streaming and digital everything, we believe there's something irreplaceable about the ritual of vinyl: the hunt for that perfect album, the weight of the record in your hands, the crackle before the first note drops, and the intentionality of listening to an album from start to finish. We're here to keep that tradition alive and thriving, and we're honored to do it in Littleton.
